A compact multifunctional device with extremely low running costs, the Epson EcoTank L6490 will meet the needs of a small office or home. It prints quickly, scans, makes photocopies even from the mobile and the inks included will last for years.
The main criteria for buying a printer are its functions – all in one or only one print – and monthly volume. At least these are the elements that one should look at, not the cost of the device, but the cost of use. The specific multifunctional device sent to us by Epson Hellas is designed for small to medium-sized offices with a maximum monthly volume of 1,600 pages that want, among other things, two-sided printing and faxing.
The Epson EcoTank L6490 allows you to copy, scan, fax and print documents and photos at a very low cost.
It is inkjet technology and unlike thermal inkjets from other manufacturers, Epson uses the patented Heat-Free PrecisionCore print head. Thus, it offers improved reliability, fewer downtimes and a reduced impact on the environment. No warm-up time is needed as with a laser printer, so the first page is printed quickly – 7 seconds in black and 11 in color – consuming less energy, just 12 W during the printing process.
Epson EcoTank L6490 It does it all – and it pays off
It may be a cliché, but this printer really does it all – print, scan, copy, fax – at minimal cost. The package includes ink for up to 13,300 black and white and 5,200 color pages. It also uses the 112 series of pigment inks for smudge, water and highlighter resistant prints. In addition, the pigment dries quickly and is ideal for double-sided printing.
Refilling the EcoTank is easy and hassle-free with its easy-to-use, drip-free, resealable ink bottles. Thanks to a special mechanism, the ink bottles allow only the correct colors to be placed.
Black ink costs about 19 euros and prints 7,500 pages, and each of the three colors (cyan, magenta, yellow) costs about 14 euros and prints 6,000 pages. The Epson L6490 is very easy to set up.
It is quite compact and does not take up much space, so you can easily place it anywhere. It connects to the network either via Wi-Fi or via Ethernet, while it also prints from mobile devices via the Epson Smart Panel app, while it also supports
AirPrint for iPhone.
The main paper tray on the front holds 250 A4 sheets, while there is also a 25-page automatic feeder on top.
Photocopier and scanner
Being an all-in-one printer, the L6490 is aimed at small businesses that will use it for both scanning and photocopying. The device uses a Contact Image Sensor (CIS) and an LED light source for excellent scanning results. The sensor’s optical resolution is 1,200×2,400 DPI, but for document scanning 300 DPI is good enough, while for images 600 DPI is preferable.
According to Epson it takes 12 seconds to scan an A4 monochrome document at 200 DPI and 27 seconds to scan a color document.
Thanks to the large 2.4-inch color touch screen, it can be used as a standalone device independently of a computer. All settings and functions can be performed from the screen. You can scan and send the document by e-mail or fax, or upload it to a cloud location.
